The Marsden Lab believes that having a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives – encompassing race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and socioeconomic status – in the lab and in the larger scientific community is critical for generating new ideas, challenging old ones, and making progress towards solving the many problems facing our society. We strive to create an environment where all are welcome, where fun is had, and where exciting discoveries are made!
The Marsden Lab is recruiting for the following positions:
Postdoctoral researcher: The Marsden Lab is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to spearhead a project investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate sensory responsiveness. Sensory over-responsiveness is a debilitating condition often experienced by those with anxiety disorders and/or autism, and so this work is very clinically relevant. The project will combine high-resolution imaging of synapse dynamics, neuronal activity, and behavior to uncover links between the actin cytoskeleton, neural circuit function, and auditory sensitivity. You will receive training in all of these methods, along with mentorship in written and oral communication, in applying for grants/fellowships, and in teaching skills. Qualifications:
- PhD (or an upcoming PhD defense date) in neuroscience or a related field
- Experience with confocal imaging and image analysis highly preferred
- Strong background in genetics and statistics
- Eagerness to mentor graduate and undergraduate students
- Commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion
